Visiting Students

This page is intended for students interested in EDER courses offered through the Office of Graduate Programs in Education. Other inquiries should be directed to Enrolment Services.

Information for Visiting Students

At the University of Calgary, a visiting student is one who is admitted to the University of Calgary to take courses to transfer to a degree program at another recognized institution. Approval of course selection must be sought from Graduate Programs in Education (GPE).

It should be noted that admission as a visiting student does not guarantee admission to a graduate program at the University of Calgary. A visiting student who wishes to apply to a graduate program at the University of Calgary must do so in the usual manner. No fee credit will be given for work done as a visiting student.

Registration Process

  • Print and complete the Faculty of Graduate Studies Application for Admission as a Visiting Student form and submit it to GPE along with the application fee.
  • The application fee is $125 Cdn. The application fee may be in the form of cash, a money order, Visa or MasterCard (card number, cardholder name, expiry date) or a micro-encoded cheque in Canadian or the equivalent amount in US currency, made payable to the University of Calgary. Do not send cash through the mail. This non-refundable application fee covers the processing of the application file whether or not the applicant is admitted to the University of Calgary. Applications will not be processed if the application fee has not been paid.
  • Students who register as a Visiting Student must pay appropriate course fees as well as University of Calgary general registration fees.
  • Enclose a letter of permission from your home institution for all courses you intend to take at the University of Calgary.
  • Enclose an official transcript showing courses completed at your home institution.
  • Please submit all documents to:
