Heritage Days brings home global battle to resist discrimination

The United Nations chose March 21 as the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination; on that date in 1960, 69 South African protestors were killed by police during a peaceful protest against apartheid. The day is aimed at reminding people that racial and ethnic discrimination are still taking place, and it’s everyone’s responsibility to put an end to it.

Student credits language program for academic success

For nearly fifteen years the University of Calgary’s English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program has helped students improve their English language proficiency in order to gain admission to both undergraduate and graduate programs. Approximately 90% of EAP students go on to pursue their degree programs after successful completion of EAP.

EAP celebrates Heritage Day 2012

Every semester the EAP Program’s faculty, administration and entire student body celebrate the cultures represented within the program. It is a highly anticipated event as food dishes from around the world are presented for all to enjoy.
