IFP Preparation

English Language Requirements

IFP Preparation (Formerly Open Studies)

If you do not yet meet the English Language Proficiency (ELP) requirement for admission, or if you are not sure what degree you want to pursue, you can study in IFP Preparation. After you successfully complete IFP Preparation, you can apply to undergraduate or graduate degree programs at the University of Calgary.

Program Requirements

IFP Preparation (Formerly Open Studies)

The IFP Preparation stream allows students admitted to Open Studies to develop ELP for other purposes, to apply for admission to a degree program at a future date, or allows students who missed the application deadline for the IFP Bridging stream to have the option of enrolling in IFPX courses.

Students interested in studying English language only, or who are unable to provide the minimum proficiency test score required for IFP Bridging or Pathways, can register as an Open Studies student in the IFP Preparation stream. Students can begin IFP Preparation in the Fall, Winter, or Spring/Summer semesters.
