December 5, 2013 - Now that we’ve survived Black Friday, the “official” start to the holiday shopping season, trips to the mall — or even the computer for on-line shopping — become a little more deliberate. Often, those last minute purchases have more to do with convenience, deadlines and impulse than any real thought to the person receiving the gift, or even the gift itself.

When it comes to buying presents for children, Werklund School of Education professors Shirley Steinberg and Shelly Russell-Mayhew say we should really take the time to consider the presents we choose for our children.

And they say that one of the worst gifts we can give little boys and girls may be one of the ones they think they want the most.
