Bridge to Teaching

Accreditation program for internationally-trained teachers

The Bridge to Teaching (BTT) program is a full-time 8-month program that provides participants with 18 semester hour credits in Education at the advanced level and includes a minimum 10 weeks of supervised student teaching in a classroom. The program is an intensive and accelerated teacher education program that prepares passionate, caring, and experienced foreign-trained teachers to teach in Alberta Schools. During the Bridge to Teaching Program, participants focus on how to teach the Alberta Program of Studies in ways that engage students and how to assess students' learning in fair, formative and summative ways. Participants examine various educational policies and pedagogies that affect teaching and learning in Alberta and explore how the expectations for teachers and students compare to those in their previous country.

The program is not accepting applications for the 2023-2024 cycle

If you are an experienced foreign-trained teacher wishing to teach in Alberta Schools, you must first have your credentials evaluated by Alberta Education.  For information, please see: https://www.alberta.ca/teaching-in-alberta.aspx .
