In Memoriam: Sueren Adreshy, Haskayne School of Business

It is with profound sadness that the University of Calgary community mourns the loss of Sueren Adreshy, who passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021 at the age of 19. Sueren was in his first year of his Bachelor of Commerce degree, with a major in finance. Those whose lives Sueren touched in the UCalgary community are heartbroken to say goodbye to this spectacularly unique individual with such a kind and gentle soul.

Despite being ill in his last year of high school, Sueren managed to fulfil all his program requirements early and received early admission to the Haskayne School of Business. Sueren’s dream was to work on Wall Street. With his creativity, charisma, risk-taking personality and bright mind, we are certain he could have achieved anything he put his mind to.

Sueren was a bright light to all who met him. He was known for his easy laughter, kind heart and charming nature. Sueren loved to skateboard with friends, play basketball in the Gold Gym, play video games and spend time outdoors. Sueren could turn any experience into an adventure.

Sueren will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his parents, Noushin and Dariush, and his younger brother Faraz, as well as all other family and friends, including many from the UCalgary community who have unforgettable and remarkable memories of him.

A closed memorial service will be held at McInnis and Holloway (5008 Elbow Drive S.W., Calgary) on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021 from noon to 1:30 p.m., followed by an open-to-public burial service in Queen’s Park Cemetery (Section Y, Block 14, #32). A celebration of Sueren’s life will also be held on Oct. 5, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at McInnis and Holloway Funeral Homes' Deerfoot South location (12281 40 St. S.E., Calgary).

If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Mental Health Foundation.

In living memory of Sueren Adreshy, a tree will be planted in the Ann and Sandy Cross Conservation Area. The University of Calgary campus flag will be lowered to half-mast in honour of Sueren for the duration of Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021.
