Field Experience Checklist
Enroll in your Field Course(s)
We encourage you enroll in your Field Experience courses early. This helps the UPE Field Experience team anticipate and recruit for your Field Experience placement. It also allows you to submit your Field Experience Information form!

Please check your UCalgary email account regularly for updates and information.
Review the Handbook
Please be familiar with your roles and responsibilities as outlined in the Pre-Service Teacher Field Experience Handbook. Pay close attention to the Attendance Policy, Police Information Check Requirement, and Checklists.
Submit the Placement Information Form
Once enrolled, please submit your Placement Information Form before June 20.
More information will be provided to you, via email, in May / June.
Review the PIC Requirement
A current, clear Police Information Check (PIC), including a Vulnerable Sector search, is required of all students participating in field experience. Please review our PIC requirement information in advance.

Apply for your PIC, after July 1
PICs must be dated AFTER July 1st to be valid for Field Experience placements in the following Fall and Winter.
Your PIC will need to be obtained from your local Police Service.
Please do not obtain your PIC too early – Your PIC must be dated after July 1.

Present your PIC to UPE Field
You will need to present your current and clear PIC to the UPE Field Experience team by August 24, and again to your placement site, on your first day of field experience.

Attend the Field Seminars
Pre-service Teachers in Field Experience are required to attend field experience seminars. Field Experience Seminars are considered an integral part of the field experience and attendance is mandatory.
