Placement Information Form

UPE Field Experience collects your Field Experience placement preferences through the Placement Information Form. 

Placement Information Form - General Details

The Field Experience team uses the information collected through the form to determine your preferences, ineligible sites, potential conflicts of interest, residential address during Field Experience and access to a vehicle or public transportation. When completing the form, we strongly encourage you to include your preferences, professional and educational background, and interests in this form as this information helps us and our educational partners choose the most appropriate placement and partner teacher for you. 

In general, your placement will be determined by three elements: attention to diversity of experience, attention to teachable subject area and willingness of a partner teacher to volunteer to mentor. Your residential location will be considered although it is secondary to those elements.

After you submit your Placement Information Form, the Directors of Field Experience will review your submission. The Field Experience Team and Field Experience Directors work with a variety of interested Partner Teachers and supportive placement schools. The Directors of Field Experience will match you with a suitable Partner Teacher. You will have an opportunity to review this placement before it is finalized, to ensure no conflicts of interest exist.

On-Campus Students / Calgary & Area Placements

As an on-campus student, please submit your Placement Information Form for 

  • Field Experience II (EDUC 465) - Required
  • Field Experience III (EDUC 540) - Required

The Placement Information Form is not used for Field Experience I or IV:

  • Field Experience I (EDUC 440): A Placement Information Form for Field Experience I is not required for On-Campus students. Your EDUC 430 section will prioritize your Field Experience I placement in a specific area or quadrant in Calgary and Area. 
  • Field Experience IV (EDUC 560): A Placement Information Form for Field Experience IV is not required for On-Campus students. We rely on your Field Experience III submission. 

Timing:

  • Please complete this form in May/ June.
  • You will have the opportunity to update your Field Experience II form in December.

Community-Based Students / Out of Area Placements

As a Community-Based student, please submit your Placement Information form for

  • Field Experience I (EDUC 440) - Required
  • Field Experience II (EDUC 465) - Required
  • Field Experience III (EDUC 540) - Required

The Placement Information form is not used for Field Experience IV: 

  • Field Experience IV (EDUC 560): A Placement Information Form for Field Experience IV is not required for Community-Based students. We rely on your Field Experience III submission. 

Timing: 

  • Please complete this form in May/ June.
  • We start to secure Out of Area placements for Field Experience I, II, III & IV in May and June for the Fall and Winter terms.
