Dr. Jac J.W. Andrews scholarly focus has been with respect to the areas of special (inclusive education), general education (teaching excellence, approaches to teaching and learning), and educational (school) psychology (child psychopathology, psycho-educational assessment and intervention, social skill development, clinical supervision, clinical reasoning). In doing this work, Dr. Andrews has written national and international peer reviewed journal publications and has published national and international textbooks. He has also disseminated his work at local , regional, national, and international forums ( for example, Canadian Psychological Association, American Educational Research Association, Canadian Society for Study in Higher Education, Society for Research in Child Development).
Dr. Jac J.W. Andrews is currently Chair of Educational Studies in School and Applied Child Psychology. He obtained his BA Degree from the University of Western Ontario, BEd Degree from Queens University, and MEd Degree as well as PhD Degree from the University of Alberta. He is a certified teacher in Ontario, Saskatchewan, and Alberta as well as a Registered Psychologist in the Province of Alberta. His university teaching has included lecture, seminar, laboratory, and field supervision courses provided to undergraduate and graduate students. He has been nominated for and received numerous teaching excellence awards at the University of Calgary. He has been Chair for the Special Education Area as well as the School Psychology area for twenty-seven years at the University of Calgary. His service has been primarily related to the fields of special/inclusive education and school psychology.
Professional & Community Affiliations
Dr. Andrews has been involved in a number of regional and provincial evaluation projects over the years. For example, he has been involved in the evaluation community health services, school health services, health technology, service treatment for children and youth at risk for alcohol and drug addiction, adult’s attitudes towards youth, custody to community transition programming, and teacher training and development.
