Parent Connection:

Bringing Psychology Home

Welcome!

The Parent Connection: Bringing Psychology Home idea was initiated and developed by student clinicians at the Werklund School to provide support and information for parents and caregivers during this time of change and uncertainty in our lives. We hope that by sharing different perspectives on aspects of wellness and wellbeing, we can encourage parents to bring psychology into their home to support themselves and those around them. Parents and caregivers can expect to find information our student clinicians have put together to provide practical, real strategies they can implement in their homes.

Connection & Hope

In times of stress, hope and connectedness are key ingredients to finding resiliency and strength. Whether the stress is due to a pandemic, job stress, or losing a loved one, feeling connected with others is key to our supporting our own mental health and happiness.

Meaningful Conversations

We are witnessing and participating in a transformative time in our culture. Behaviour that is learned can be unlearned and replaced. Racism can be replaced with anti-racist thoughts, attitudes, and behaviours.

Anxiety in Teens

Anxiety is the most common mental health concern in teens, especially among girls. Although anxiety itself is not unusual, anxiety is considering unhealthy when excessive, uncontrollable, and related to distress.
