How to Apply

Thank you for your interest in the graduate programs offered by Graduate Programs in Education at the University of Calgary.

Applications to graduate degree programs in the Werklund School of Education will open as per the scheduled dates below.  Applications to our programs are submitted online only.  When available please access the application at the Faculty of Graduate Studies home page and look for the Apply Now option.  For more detailed information regarding admission requirements  please visit our Program pages .

Applications must be submitted 11:59 pm MT on the deadline date for each program.  Supporting documents are normally required within 15 days.

You will receive notification in writing from GPE as soon as possible after a decision regarding admissibility is reached, normally 10-12 weeks after the application deadline date.

Request for Advanced Credit must be made at the time of application for admission to a course-based program (MEd, Graduate Diploma and Graduate Certificate).

Application fee: A non-refundable application fee is charged for each application to a graduate degree program. This fee is required whether or not you are admitted to the University of Calgary. Applications will only be processed once the fee has been paid in full.

  • $125 CAD for Canadian applicants
  • $145 CAD for International applicants
  • $180 CAD for re-admission to complete a program you withdrew from

Please note that admission to GPE programs is highly competitive. Selection of applicants is based not only on Grade Point Average (GPA) but also on such factors as the ability to match applicants with faculty members, strength of references and experience.
