Dr. Josephine Tsang
Proud Canadian immigrant. Dedicated community builder and innovation champion. Avid female scientist and role model. Josephine is passionate about changing peoples’ lives through meaningful conversations and experiences about social equity, sustainability, collaborative innovation, and a hopeful future. Her work in the not-for-profit sector has catalyzed fruitful dialogues about building a more resilient, optimistic yet pragmatic possibilities of what a future Alberta can be. Currently, she and her team members at Calgary Chinese Community Service Association (CCCSA) continue to inspire and help create a vibrant and integrative community.
Josephine holds a Ph.D. in physical organic chemistry from Queen’s University, Canada. She has worked on multidisciplinary research projects, ranging from characterizing prion proteins linked to fatal neurodegenerative diseases to patenting novel methods for destroying toxic chemical warfare agents and pesticides rapidly and safely. Chatelaine magazine named Josephine as one of “80 Canadian Women to Watch” and she was a recipient of the L’Oréal Canada/Canadian Commission for UNESCO Women in Science Research Excellence Fellowship and Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Postdoctoral Fellow. You will find Josephine and her husband helping in the community, traveling, eating delicious food or spending quality time with their extraordinary nieces and nephew.
