2024/2025 elections are ongoing, led by our Chief Returning Officer (CRO) Collette Quinn-Hall.

There is still time to put names forward for nominations in a varied roster of officers on the Graduate Programs in Education Association before the election is held from May 21st to May 23rd. The link to the nomination survey is provided below and here.

Eligibility:

  1. Active graduate member of the Werklund School of Education (enrolled in full-time graduate studies). 
  2. Available to serve for one year with their term of office ending April 30th, 2025. 
  3. Available to attend regular meetings of the Executive held monthly during the academic year.

The Graduate Programs in Education Student Association (GPESA) is holding an election to elect the following 2023-2024 officers. Please see your email for an attached document outlining the roles and responsibilities.

Executive Officers:

  1. Co-president – Research Education
  2. Co-president – Educational Psychology
  3. Vice President, Academics
  4. Vice President, Student Life
  5. Vice President, Finance and Operations
  6. Online and Professional Programs Representative
  7. Promotions and Media Relations Officer

  9. Secretary

Nomination Period

Deadline to submit a nomination is May 15th at 11:59 pm. 

To nominate yourself, please fill out the nomination survey at (Nomination Survey Link):

  1. Your name, year, and degree of study.
  2. A paragraph (max 100 words) on why you will be a good candidate, previous experience that would benefit this role and any “platform” ideas you have. This will be posted on the election page for students to read when they vote during the election period.

Election Process

  1. Nomination period: This survey(Nomination Survey Link) will be available from May 1st at 9:00 am until May 15th at 11:59 pm. All active Werklund graduate students will be advised by email of the elections, which are not compulsory.
  2. Election period: From May 21st to May 23rd, eligible voters, which include all graduate students located at the Werklund School of Education will be asked to vote for their preferred candidate(s).
  3. The electoral system to operate will be ‘first past the post’. That is the individual with the largest number of votes will be elected. In the event of a tie, there will be a recount. If the tie is confirmed the names will be drawn from a container by the Chief Returning Officer (CRO) and witnessed by candidates over Zoom. The first person’s name drawn will be deemed elected.
  4. The votes will be counted on May 24th by the CRO and the election declared.
  5. The CRO decision is final.
