International Doctoral Research Seminar

The Werklund School of Education is proud to partner with the Faculties/Schools of Education at Beijing Normal University (BNU) and Queensland University of Technology (QUT), in promoting research collaborations among doctoral students and faculty members at the three universities. This initiative involves a joint annual International Doctoral Research Seminar hosted by partner universities in alternate years.

Theme: AI and the Transformation of Knowledge Production in Higher Education

Artificial intelligence is rapidly reshaping the processes through which knowledge is produced, analyzed, and disseminated. From AI-assisted literature reviews and data analysis to automated writing tools and algorithmic peer review, these technologies are altering the epistemic practices of academic research. While AI may enhance research productivity and accessibility, it also raises profound questions about authorship, academic integrity, epistemic authority, and the future of scholarly expertise. This doctoral seminar will examine how AI is transforming research practices across disciplines and explore the methodological, ethical, and epistemological implications of integrating AI into scholarly work.

Eligibility: Open to Werklund School of Education's Doctoral students enrolled in either the 2nd or 3rd year. Preference will be given to students who are post-candidacy and making sufficient progress in their academic program to support active participation in the Seminar.
