Unofficial Transcript Requirements

What is an unofficial transcript?

Unofficial transcripts are academic transcripts that an applicant has access to that have not come directly from the issuing institution to the admission office.

Unofficial transcripts can be used for your application evaluation and many can be uploaded in your To Do List in your Student Centre.

If you’re admitted using unofficial transcripts, your offer will be conditional on receipt of official transcripts.

Submitting transcripts

Applications, unofficial transcripts, and all supporting documents must be submitted by 11:59 pm MT on the program's application deadline date to be considered complete and proceed to academic review.

After submitting your online application, you will automatically receive instructions on how to upload documents to your Student Centre. Please note that we cannot accept screenshots of your student portal for evaluation purposes.

If an offer of admission is endorsed by the GPE Admissions Committee, your offer of admission will be conditional upon the Faculty of Graduate Studies receiving all final official transcripts, via email or in a sealed envelope directly from the issuing institution(s), by the date specified in your formal offer letter.

Current and previous UCalgary students are not required to order unofficial/official UCalgary transcripts.

Uploading unofficial transcripts

Upload one copy of your unofficial transcripts with the following information:

  • Name and Student ID number
  • Program and Faculty
  • List of all courses registered in, attempted and/or completed
  • Grades received for courses attempted and/or completed
  • Grade point average (GPA) for each term
  • Units (credits) per course
  • Degrees awarded/conferred
  • Transfer credits received
  • Current academic standing and non-academic misconduct conditions
  • Grading scale/transcript legend

Once your application has been submitted, you will be required to go to your online Student Centre and upload transcripts from each of the post-secondary institutions you have attended. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure these items are present on the unofficial transcript upload. If any of these items are missing from your unofficial transcript upload, then your application may be deemed incomplete due to missing information.

The unofficial transcript must clearly state the degree awarded. If this is not clearly stated, then a copy of the degree certificate must be included with the unofficial transcript upload. The unofficial transcript and degree certificate should be uploaded as one PDF to your application.
