Location: White Buffalo Lodge, (EDT 314), Education Tower, University of Calgary 
For those unable to participate in-person, a Zoom link will be made available.
Lunch and light snacks will be provided for on-campus participants. 

Through this one-day event, we aim to:

  1. establish research topics focused on the development of instructional capacity for immersive learning involving collaborations with colleagues;
  2. explore national and/or international funding to support proposed areas of research; and
  3. establish a national/international research network of immersive learning scholars who will meet regularly using an online community of practice.

Dr. Southgate is an Associate Professor of Emerging Technologies for Education at the University of Newcastle (Australia). She is a teacher educator, technology ethicist, immersive learning expert, and maker of literacy computer games. Erica has authored commissioned reports on artificial intelligence and emerging technologies in Australian schools and higher education. She is widely published and is a presenter in international forums on these topics. Erica believes that all students, regardless of their background, should have access to the best, ethical technology for learning.
