Support Staff Awards

At Werklund, we are especially proud of the accomplishments of our support staff and we believe it is important to reward excellence.


Dean's Excellence Award

The Dean’s Excellence Award is presented annually to one (1) AUPE staff member or one (1) Management and Professional Staff member who has demonstrated overall excellence in his or her position.  The nomination will be adjudicated using the criteria below. 

A nominee should be an individual who:

  • has high standards of professionalism and consistently goes beyond the requirements of his/her position 
  • promotes a positive work environment, characterized by respect, support, trust and collegiality
  • serves as a role model for other staff members
  • provides the highest level of service to the School community
  • promotes collaboration and a sense of collegiality across the School and University
  • demonstrates creativity or innovation in improving work processes

Excellence In Innovation Award

The Excellence in Innovation Award is presented annually to one (1) AUPE staff member or one (1) Management and Support Staff member who has demonstrated initiative in improving procedures, practices, productivity or service levels which has made a significant positive impact on the strategic direction of the School. The nomination will be adjudicated using the criteria below. 

A nominee should be an individual who:

  • demonstrates initiative in improving procedures, practices, productivity or service levels
  • recognizes a gap or issue and identifies a possible solution
  • actively seeks opportunities to engage colleagues in ways that contribute to innovative problem-solving
  • implements change resulting in significant impact to the School
  • goes beyond the requirements of their position to creatively promote the School’s core values

Excellence in Leadership Award

The Excellence in Leadership Award is presented annually to one (1) AUPE staff member or one (1) Management and Support Staff member who has been actively involved in the mentorship and development of others within the School.  The nomination will be adjudicated using the criteria below. 

A nominee should be an individual who:

  • serves as a role model to other employees by consistently going beyond the requirements of their position
  • promotes a positive work environment, characterized by respect, support, trust, and collegiality
  • actively seeks opportunities to engage colleagues in ways that contribute to a common sense of mission and purpose
  • is actively involved in the mentorship and development of others
  • goes beyond the requirements of their position to creatively promote the School’s core values

Excellence in Service Award

The Excellence in Service Award is presented annually to one (1) AUPE staff member or one (1) Management and Support Staff member who has demonstrated continuous dedication and cooperation in their service to students, academic and support staff, and the general public.  The nomination will be adjudicated using the criteria below. 

A nominee should be an individual who:

  • provides the highest level of service to the School community
  • goes beyond the requirements of their position to creatively promote the School’s core values
  • demonstrates initiative in improving work processes that anticipate client needs and interests
  • takes the initiative to continuously expand knowledge and skills
  • contributes to the overall success of students, clients and colleagues
