The Faith and Spirituality Centre (FSC) has a brand-new look in a new space — moving from its MacEwan Student Centre location into a freshly renovated space in MacKimmie Block (MB 122) this past July.

The new space is larger, brighter and more open, allowing the Faith and Spirituality Centre to serve the campus community better. The student drop-in lounge is more spacious, giving more students the opportunity to engage with each other and the centre’s programming. Adding space to the centre has allowed them to add more chaplains, including a Jewish (Chabbad) chaplain and Muslim (Ahmadiyya) chaplain to better serve communities of both faiths.

The new chaplains this year are:

  • Fr. Sebastian Scratch, Christian (Orthodox) chaplain
  • Noureen Tilly, Muslim (Sunni) chaplain/representative
  • Imam Sharukh Abid, Muslim (Ahmadiyya) chaplain
  • Reverend Phil Aud, Christian (Pentecostal) chaplain
  • Sukhman Kaur Hehar, Sikh representative
  • Rabbi Mordecai Groner, Jewish (Chabad) chaplain
The Faith and Spirituality Centre's expanded space allows it to serve the campus community with six chaplains.

Adriana Tulissi, manager of the FSC, is excited about the new and creative ways their staff can engage students. “The new space has allowed us to have more work space for our staff and chaplains, expanded drop-in and lounge space for students, and a meeting room for programming and workshops,” she says.

Make sure you stop in at the FSC on Sept. 6, at 1 p.m. for an ice cream giveaway. Drop by after lunch to grab some free treats provided by Marble Slab Creamery. And don’t miss the FSC’s Open House, Sept. 14 from noon to 3 p.m., for a meet-and-greet with the staff and chaplains, have snacks and goodies and play interactive games.
