The University of Calgary community is mourning the loss of Miranda Dall’Alba, a longtime UCalgary employee who most recently served as a manager in Arts Administration Operations for the Faculty of Arts. Miranda passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 24 at the age of 52, surrounded by loved ones at the Foothills Medical Centre after a long courageous battle with lung cancer.

Dall’Alba was a remarkable woman who touched many lives throughout her lifetime. She was known for her intelligence, kind heart, and her incredible commitment to helping others. She had an infectious smile and was an inspiration to family, friends, and colleagues. Dall’Alba excelled at everything she put her mind to, including achieving a Master of Arts degree in leadership from Royal Roads University.

She also cherished the time spent with her family. She loved spending time with her nephews and niece and was always there to support them in their endeavours. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but never forgotten.

Dall’Alba leaves to mourn her longtime friend Larkin Daniel Taylor of Calgary; her sister, Lily Morgan (Sean Morgan) of Thorsby, Alta.; her nephews, Ryan Morgan (Melissa and Henry) of Thorsby, and Scott Morgan (Jade Pui-Porretta) of Edmonton; her niece Amanda Harris (Brayden and Brynson) of Thorsby; and many great friends and colleagues in Calgary. She also leaves to mourn many relatives in northern Italy and Sweden.

She was predeceased by her father Odillo Dall’Alba in 2013 and her mother Olga Dall’Alba (nee Marcante) in 2016.

With respect to Dall’Alba’s wishes, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date. Condolences, memories, and photos may be shared and viewed at www.MHFH.com. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial tributes in Dall’Alba’s honour be made directly to the Alberta Lung Association, P.O. Box 4500, Station South, Edmonton, Alta., T6E 6K2 Telephone: 1-888-566-5864.

Larkin and Miranda’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Foothills Hospital Palliative Care Unit for the exceptional care and support during this difficult time. They went above and beyond to ensure she was always comfortable and well cared-for.
