Speaker Bio
Belinda kakiyosēw Daniels is nēhiyaw from pahkitahwākan sākahikan - Sturgeon Lake First Nation Treaty Six Territory in Saskatchewan, Canada. In English, the name kakioysēw translates to “she is creative and industrious.” kakiyosēw is a mother, grandmother, wife, sister, auntie and language warrior with family name connections to the Daniels and Ermine families. Belinda is also an assistant professor in the Department of Indigenous Education with a focus on Indigenous Language Revitalization at the University of Victoria, and the founder of the nēhiyawak Language Experience, a not-for-profit language-revitalization organization. kakiyosēw is a lifelong learner of nēhiyawēwin.
