Electrical and Computer researchers receive matching funds boost

Provincial investment matches Canada Foundation for Innovation funds

The Ministry of Innovation and Advanced Education rewards institutions that support research excellence, and Schulich School of Engineering research projects continue to meet the world-class requirements set out by the province. In 2013, the ministry recognized leading researchers in institutional priority areas by providing matching funds for their Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI) Leaders Opportunity Fund awards.

“The University of Calgary undertakes and supports world-class research and technology development every day,” says Ed McCauley, vice-president (research). “It is no surprise that our researchers and research projects continue to be successful and meet the high standards set out by both the province and CFI.”

The university’s support from the province and CFI is invaluable as we continue to deliver on our Eyes High vision and Research Strategy. McCauley says he “looks forward to our continued partnership with the province and CFI to support excellent research and innovation.”

The following faculty members received funding through the Small Equipment Grants Program:

  •  Fadhel Ghannouchi - $379,990
    • Millimetre-Wave Radio Facility
  • Orly Yadid-Pecht, Kartikeya Murari - $100,000
