Informed by her program of research on promoting quality graduate education in online and blended contexts, Michele will describe how investments in supervisory development leads to shared and mutually beneficial faculty and student growth that enables post-secondary learning and research cultures to thrive. When faculty members are empowered and supported as graduate supervisors, they, in turn, can better support and unleash the potential of their students. Developing trusting mentoring and advising relationships takes attention, intention, and care. Michele will share practical strategies for faculty to foster relational trust in supervision and mentoring relationships. By improving the practices of supervision and mentorship, the overall goal is to ensure that students receive more personalized and impactful support, leading to enhanced academic performance, personal growth, and well-being. Connecting research and practical advice, Michele will describe approaches to cultivating connections and communities of support for faculty and student flourishing.
