Starting your Bachelor of Education? Register for New Student Orientation, a tradition 20 years strong!
When: Thursday, August 28 & Friday, August 29 (event times are listed on the website below)
Where: UCalgary Campus
What: This is a campus-wide event introducing you to UCalgary, resources, and student life.
Audience Note: New Student Orientation event is intended for newly admitted students.

What: Your Inside Track to the BEd Experience.
Kick off your Bachelor of Education journey with an energizing day designed just for Werklund students. You'll take part in three interactive sessions:
- Faculty Panel - Hear from instructors, advisors, and current students as they share insights, tips, and inspiration.
- Experiential Learning - Get a taste of the hands-on learning that sets our program apart.
- Program Advising - Meet with UPE Advisors to set you up for success in your upcoming courses.
Between 12:00pm (noon) and 1:00pm, drop by our Pop-Up in Doucette Library for on-the-spot questions for advisors and a chance to connect with current students.
Come prepared to learn, connect, and start building the relationships that will support you throughout your program.
Audience Note: This event is intended for newly admitted Bachelor of Education students, and Concurrent students starting the EDUC 400s this year.

We invite all students attending the Faculty Session to fill out our brief survey to share your top questions.

What: Join Us in Creating our Werklund Community Tree
Share a word of encouragement or a short message to your future self on one of our paper leaves. We'll display your leaf in the Undergraduate Programs in Education Office, where it will inspire you - and others - throughout your journey. Come reflect, share, and be part of something that will grow with you during your time in the program.
Audience Note: This event is intended for all incoming Bachelor of Education students.

What: Starting your EDUC 400s? Join us for Werklund 101! In this session, we'll map out your EDUC course journey, show you when to engage, and connect you to supports, research, and experiential learning opportunities. Everything you need to make the most of your program - packed into one essential session!
Audience Note: This event is open to all Bachelor of Education students, whether you are a new or continuing student. We encourage students entering their Fall EDUC 400s to attend.
Bonus: Stay for Werklund Create and Celebrate Student Social Event directly after this session.

What: Join us for a student-led event where creativity and fun come together! Enjoy connecting with your peers for colouring, games, and socializing in a casual, lively atmosphere.
Audience Note: This event is open to all Bachelor of Education students, whether you are a new or continuing student.

Where: Doucette Library - 3rd Floor of the Education Block (Map)
What: Join us at the annual Werklund Student Opportunities Fair! Werklund students can learn more about our experiential programs and placements from our program partners and Werklund staff.
Audience Note: This event is intended for all Werklund School of Education students, whether you are in a non-Education or EDUC term! We invite our faculty, instructors, and staff to attend, too!

What: Wrap up your first week of classes with snacks and a chance to connect with your ESA representatives. Learn more about what we do for you, explore our photo wall, and get support with ESA membership* registration. You'll also gain access to resources to help you start the year strong.
* Membership is required for all 500-level students planning to attend the ATA Teachers' Convention at the end of Field IV.

What: All pre-service teachers participating in Field Experience this year are warmly invited to drop in for our Field Meet'n'Greet with the Field Experience Directors and Field Team. This lively social gathering is a great opportunity to mingle and get acquainted with the team who will be supporting your Field Experience journey!
Audience Note: This event is intended for Bachelor of Education students enrolled in EDUC 440, 465, 540, and/or 560 this academic year.
What: Join the Experiential Learning Facilitator to learn more about the upcoming opportunities in Experiential Learning this semester!

What: Join us for a casual chat with your UPE Career Advisor and the Centre for Career and Professional Development to learn about career resources, teacher certification timelines, and what you need to start subbing after Field Experience IV.
Audience Note: This event is intended for students enrolled in their EDUC 500s only.

Audience Note: This event is intended for all Werklund School of Education students, staff, and faculty! The BBQ is by registration, and ticketed. Refer to your UCalgary email for registration and ticket distribution information.

What: Join the Canadian Wildlife Federation (CWF) as they introduce you to the core aspects of environmental education and share some interdisciplinary tools and techniques you can use in your teaching practice to inspire students to learn about and connect with nature! Through this free introductory session, we’ll touch on key learning theories and talk about the many benefits of environmental education to student health and development. By the end, you’ll leave with some initial ideas that you can easily implement in your own classroom.
Audience Note: This session is open to all Werklund students! Please register early, as there is a limit of 25 participants.

When: Friday, September 19, 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Where: Barrier Lake Field Station, Kananaskis
What: Nature Walk with Experienced Naturalists. Join a guided walk to talk about nature!
Learn about the trees, plants, rocks and animals around the area. Brainstorm ideas to incorporate into your class. Bring a lunch and come dressed for the outdoors (easy terrain) and the weather.
Cost: $20 per participant
- Limited to 25 people per session
- Participants will need to arrange their own transportation to the Field Station.
- Minimum of 5 participants due to programming requirements. If less than 5 register, event will be canceled.
