EDUC 200s Course Request Form

Thank you for expressing your interest in our 200-level offerings! Check out the information, below, and then submit your UCalgary.ca email.

Our EDUC 200-level classes, like our 400s and 500s, are restricted to Bachelor of Education majors only. However, unlike other EDUC classes, should there be space, we will override non-Education students into these classes. This is particularly for those students who want to submit a change of program into our Concurrent or Four-Year pathways.

If you would like to be informed of when any of the above courses are opened to non-Majors, please add your UCalgary.ca email via the form below. We will email all students on the list if and when said classes are opened, prior to their given term offering.

Before adding your email, please review the below information!

Interested in the Spring 2024 EDUC 201? Spring submissions are now open - please add your email to the webform, below!

Interested in a Summer or Fall 2024, or Winter 2025 EDUC 200 course? We suggest adding your email, anyway! That way, you'll get our email announcing our Spring call out, and when the form is available to re-add your email for next Summer, Fall, or Winter!

We will clear this list immediately after every 'call out'. If you want to be notified for the next term, please re-add your email.

Courses available

EDUC 201: A mandatory course for our Four-Year and Concurrent pathways across all teachables.

EDUC 205/207/209: These courses are ordinarily restricted to our Community-Based Bridging program students, and are offered online in a paced timeline. These classes can be used for remaining electives in our other pathways. Note: To take EDUC 209, you must also be able to take EDUC 207.

EDUC 211/213/215: These courses are ordinarily restricted to our Community-Based Bridging program students, and are offered online, in a paced timeline. These classes can be used for remaining electives in our our other pathways. Note: To take EDUC 215, you must also be able to take EDUC 213.

When we review our numbers

In order to ensure that current majors have first access to enroll, seat availability will not be reviewed until around two to four weeks prior to a course beginning.

EDUC 201:

In April for the Spring term offering;

In late May/early June for the Summer term offering;

In August for the Fall term offering;

In December for the Winter term offering.

EDUC 205/207/209:

In August for the Fall term offering.

EDUC 211/213/215:

In December for the Winter term offering.

What happens next

Due to enrolment restrictions, an advisor will have to override students into any of the above courses if they are not a major. Non-majors attempting registration will be greeted with an error message, regardless of time attempted.

Adding your email to the list does not guarantee you a seat. If and when opened, enrolment will be first-come, first-served. If you would like a seat in any of the above, you will still need to send an email request to upe@ucalgary.ca with your name and UCID to get registered (once the call-out has been sent). Adding your email to this list only indicates interest, not that you want to be enrolled in a given semester! Requests will only be reviewed after courses are opened - 'early' requests will not be prioritized.

You should also know

Please enrol in all other courses for a given term in the meantime. If you are offered a seat in any of the above, we will confirm with you what courses you want swapped, should it be necessary to fit into your schedule. We will give you 24 hours to respond after we offer you a seat. If you do not respond in that time-frame, we will move to the next student who has replied. If the above courses do not open up, or you do not gain a seat, this ensures that you still have a seat in your 'back-up' courses.

Ensure to meet with your current faculty advisors to go over any registration ramifications for dropping another course for the EDUC 200-levels, or how these classes may fit into your current degree requirements (especially if you do not gain admission or choose not to enter your desired pathway). Shadowing an education degree does not guarantee you admission - you must still meet the competitive admission requirements mandated of change of program applicants!

Please Note: Four-Year Community-Based students pursuing three or four-year degree completion plans will not be granted permission to take the Spring EDUC 201. EDUC 201 must be taken on-campus during the Summer Residency.
