Advising hours
Mondays – Fridays: 9.00am - 12.00pm; 1.00 - 4.00pm (Except Wednesday Mornings)

Holiday Hours:
- The University of Calgary will be closed from 12:00pm (noon) on December 24th through January 1st.
- Advising will resume on Monday, January 5th.
Start of term advising (Winter 2026):
- January 5 - 9: Bookable and drop-in advising will be available, per our regular drop-in hours, see details below.
- January 12 - 16: Online and in-person drop-in only, see details below.
- January 19: Bookable appointments will resume for January 19th - 31st (bookable appointments will open on January 16th)

Our team offers in-person and online advising - please refer to the information below for more details on booking and dropping-in. Additionally, please review our 'Important dates' calendar on our home page for holidays and other closures that may change advising availability.
All students are highly encouraged to explore their specific program site prior to meeting with an advisor, to ensure that the appointment time is used as effectively as is possible!
Not sure whether to book an appointment or go for a drop-in?
Appointments: Great for longer conversations, like degree planning or comparing pathway options!
Drop-Ins: Great for quick or specific questions, like confirming an application has been posted correctly or reviewing registration timelines!
Phone Calls: Best for triage, referrals, quick questions, and booking an appointment!
Note I: Appointments are scheduled for 20 minutes. If you feel that you require further time, please ensure to request/book appropriately.
Note II: All times are Mountain Standard (Calgary). If you are connecting with us from another province or country, please ensure to adjust for the time difference!
Note III: If you are interested in making a change to your program, we will be offering a Change of Program advising week from November 24th - December 2nd. Please look for "Change of Program - In-Person Advising" appointments in Elevate! Please note that you are welcome to connect with our advisors outside of this week that we have set-aside, as well.

Online appointments are conducted via the web-conferencing platform Zoom. An advisor will send you an email with further details and Zoom meeting information prior to your appointment. If you have not received this information by an hour preceding your appointment, please email us at upe@ucalgary.ca, and ensure to check your spam folder.
We offer drop-ins online.

- Holiday hours: In-person drop-ins will not be available December 24th or 31st
- Start of Term: Additional in-person drop-ins will be offered the week of January 12 - 16, from 10am - 12pm (noon) and 1pm - 3pm, except Wednesday January 7th which will have 1 - 3:30pm only (no morning drop-ins)

To Join Drop-Ins
Drop-ins are filled first-come, first-served, and are offered in 20-minute slots. If you feel that you require further time, we encourage you to book an appointment. Our last available drop-in begins at 3.30pm; arrivals after 3.20pm may not be accommodated. If all drop-in slots have been filled for a given Wednesday afternoon, you will be asked to book an appointment or consider future drop-in options.
